East Mens' Lacrosse was founded in 1968 with the help of  students, parents and other local enthusiasts. In 1971, East and Manual combined to form the East-Manual Lacrosse Club. The club was supported by many individuals throughout the community from 1971 to 1978. In 1979 Jon Barocas was approached to be an assistant coach by a former teammate  at Graland Country Day and by Terry Claassen an East-Manual player. After the first practice Coach Barocas became the head coach and has remained at East for the past 30 seasons accumulating a record of 336–75, including 9 state championships, '85, '87, '88, '89, '90, '93, '96, '98, '00 with 5 undefeated seasons.

In 1985 the East team began traveling throughout the country playing teams in California, Maryland, Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Washington DC, New Jersey and Florida at the Disney Wide World of Sports.  Past teams have won the San Diego Tournament High School Tournament, the Big Red Tournament and the 1988 Daniel Hand Tournament beating Yorktown.  This tournament was the first recognition Colorado lacrosse got as being competitive with the East coast powerhouses. In 1994 Christian Cook was voted the overwelming MVP of the San Diego Tournament High School Tournament

From 1979 to 1999, East-Manual became one of the powerhouse teams of Colorado Lacrosse winning 8 state championships, including four in a row between 1987-1990. In 1999, with official Colorado sanctioning, East–Manual became “East” and won the CHSAA sanctioned state championship in 2000. Over the years, East has produced players who have gone on to win a combined 8 NCAA Championships with their respective teams, North Carolina, Syracuse, Princeton, Johns Hopkins; 29 All-Americans including Christian Cook, a 1993 Colorado High School All-American, 2-time NCAA All-American at Princeton, the 1998 NCAA Defensive Player of the Year and the Major League Lacrosse 2002 Defenseman of the year. Christian is now an agent of the United States Secret Service and was inducted into the Colorado Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2003.  In 2005 and 2006 another East Alumn, Jon Urbana '01, became the second two time Division I All American from East High School and only the fourth All American from Villanova University.  Jon was elected captain of the Wildcats as a junior in '04.  On April 22, 2006 East and Cherry Creek made Colorado Lacrosse history when they played before 12,000 fans in the Roucky Mountain Shootout at Invesco Field.

Throughout the years, East has continued to produce players who have contributed to major college programs including Cornell, Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, Brown, Johns Hopkins, Virginia, North Carolina, Hofstra, Middlebury, Drexel, Villanova, Delaware, Colby, Amherst, Williams, Kenyon, Colorado College, Denison, Conn College, Gettysburg, Boston College, Columbia, Georgetown, Bucknell, Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Pennsylvania, Vermont, University of Denver, Butler, Bates and the Air Force, Army and Naval Academies.

Alumni, parents, and friends have always stood by the East Lacrosse program. Your support has made our success possible. The current staff and players want to extend their thanks, appreciation and gratitude to all our fans for their loyal support.
